Pearsoll Peak is proud to present our 21st release, “Vol. 11” by Portland based artist Ghost Pop. Brilliant, shining pop melodies and structures are soaked in ferric saturation on the latest from prolific songsmith and multi-instrumentalist Aaron Liu. “Volume 11” is the 11th in Ghost Pop’s titular “Volume” series; one where somber Pacific Coast melancholia collides with sunny pop euphoria to craft gauzy pop songs that display a wide range of influences and reference points.

Ghost Pop is the project of Aaron Liu, a staple of the Pacific Northwest independent music scene. Liu churns out lush compositions recorded directly to cassette with a prolific impulse driving his practice. Quality is never sacrificed, though, and upon listening to any of the Ghost Pop releases, you can hear a musician with an intuitive sense of melody and dynamic. The influences range from American soul music, the lo-fi chasms of hypnagogic pop, classical music, and Taiwanese pop, but these disparate tendencies are united through the clear and present musical voice that Liu employs in all of his work.
